A native of Calcutta, India - now U.S. citizen - Dave grew up without television and journalist in family.

He was very close to finishing 2-year B.A. in English at the University of Calcutta (now Kolkata) when he became the first ever in his entire family - full of engineers - to receive once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study in America. And he was also the first to come to the United States, study and graduate with an American degree: 4-year Bachelor's in Communication / Journalism from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

From frontlines in Washington, DC and Los Angeles / West Coast, Dave has reported, produced, edited and written some of the history-in-the-making stories for NBC News, MSNBC, CBS News, CNN and Reuters. He covered Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Anthrax attacks (broke news), Congress, Bush v. Gore at Supreme Court, 9/11 at as well as 2 wars from Pentagon for 2 networks, Presidential impeachment / Paula Jones / Monica Lewinsky / Ken Starr, Elian Gonzalez, 3 Presidential elections from East and West Coasts, Dot com boom and bust, Y2K fiasco, Microsoft antitrust trial, Occupy movement, Ravi Shankar's death, Santa Barbara mountain fires, Trump immigration policies, rare sightings of blue whales near LA shoreline first time in decades (also he did see for the first time ever the largest animal on the planet.)

He was the only journalist among national media allowed to witness from a Coast Guard ship the billion dollar ultra-secret national security operations far out in the Pacific Ocean. Also, he became the first among national media to get access to world's first billion dollar and Western hemisphere's largest desalination plant in San Diego at the height of historic drought; story was re-used by competitors, including The New York Times.

He has exclusively interviewed for on air Ireland's Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, UK Member of Parliament Tom Watson, top professional sports figures, including Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan (covered), Manny Pacquiao as well as Hollywood A-listers Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Josh Brolin and Megan Fox.

When Norway's television channel NRK came to Washington to film documentary on how world's first 24 / 7 TV news network CNN gathered breaking news, senior management requested him to give on-camera interview while he was covering a major breaking story. He investigated and was first to report stories on national security, environment and climate change from 2 coasts, reused by competition like The New York Times, AP, ABC, NPR.

Dave produced a documentary for PBS that received an Emmy nomination and also ran an international nonprofit magazine. His journalism career began in earnest as local newspaper reporter in Ohio while getting his degree. He also reported on city hall, police, fire, school board, features, county and state legislature for regional newspapers in Boston, Arizona and New York City.

He is the first from India to become Producer at CNN / U.S. in Washington where he also reported for CNN International, HLN (formerly Headline News) and wrote scores of breaking news and features after covering them in the field for CNN.com as well as CNN Wire with byline. He is also the first to have produced at 4 out of 6 national broadcast TV channels or networks and reported from the scene of major national stories on both coasts. Dave also reported for 2 of the top 3 global news agencies.

While growing up, he read Reuters stories. And recently from Reuters West Coast bureau, he spearheaded groundbreaking investigations, distributed to TV broadcasters, including NDTV of India, as well as media customers in 120 countries in all 5 continents reaching billions of people daily.

Dave has worked and or lived in various hubs: New York City (finance), Washington (politics), San Francisco (technology), Los Angeles (entertainment) and Seattle, Boston as well as in Ohio, New Hampshire, Maryland, Virginia and Arizona.

Dave passed the U.S. citizenship test with flying colors on the first attempt and became citizen while actively covering the American President for CNN / U.S. in Washington. He now lives in Los Angeles.
